GROOM ACADEMY Ltd TRAINING CONTRACT:
We will provide one or more tutor, supervising teaching sessions at all times.
All courses are targeted at an adult audience, therefore learners must expect to carry out self-directed learning as part of their flexible, individual learning plan.
We will use all available resources and teaching methods in order for you to achieve the highest standard possible. You are required to undertake all practical, demonstrations, direct observation, home studies and written tasks relevant to your course. If you refuse to do so, we will not be held responsible if you do not gain the full benefits of the course, this will be recorded in tutorial feedback records.
All learners are required to complete all home study assignments relevant to and during their course. It should be understood that the courses provided are introductory and expected to give learners the basic skills required in order to groom dogs professionally. However, they are fast track, condensed courses and learners should carry out continuous professional development in the future to widen and develop their skills.
Students are given 12 months to complete all aspects of the course. After this time there may be additional fees to complete the course.
Students who use their own grooming equipment are expected to keep this in good working order and bring it to the course each time they attend.
You will be taught basic Health and Safety at your induction. You are required to use safe and professional handling and restraint of the animals in our care as instructed at all times and must agree to the following:
a) You will adhere to our Health and Safety Policy at all times
b) You will treat the animals in our establishment humanely and professionally at all times
Failure to do so will result in you being asked to leave the course immediately with no refund of course fees or any part thereof.
Health & safety should be adhered to at all times to prevent accidents, the school will not be held liable for any bites, scratches you may receive when handling animals.
If you bring your own dog to be groomed, Groom Academy will not be held responsible for any vet bills.
All learners can expect to be treated with respect, dignity and professionalism and in return students are required to extend the same to all members of staff, other learners and our clients. Learners must refrain from using sexist, homophobic, ageist and racist language and actions and to respect the personal space and property of the salon, staff, other learners and clients. Failure to do so will lead to a written warning and any further incident will result in the learner being asked to leave the course with no refund of fees or part thereof.
All salon equipment should be used with care and as per instructions. Any learner damaging or breaking equipment after being instructed in its proper care will be required to replace it.
It is a condition of training that learners ensure that any area used in the salon has been thoroughly cleaned before leaving at the end of the day. Thorough cleaning is necessary in order to conform to Health and Safety procedures and forms part of learners assessments.
Learners are not permitted to take video footage in the salon; however, they may take photographs for personal reference.
Sickness Absence: Learners are expected to attend a minimum of 85% of the teaching days in order to reach the requirements of a pass. Any learner who is unable to attend, because of extreme circumstances, on a day when they are expected must telephone as soon as possible in order that alternative arrangements can be made for any animals which have been booked in for teaching purposes. Any request to make up these days should be made in writing for consideration. The school reserves the right to refuse the opportunity for making up the missed days and no fees will be refunded. The school will try to enable learners to make up the time where possible.

Learners should note that there is a formal complaints procedure if a complaint is to be made. This can be found in the course folder.
The above contract in this registration form will apply not only to the course applied for, but also to any course upgrades.
Groom Academy reserves the right to update/change the terms and conditions for this contract as required.
